Lady Gaga wants meeting with Obama

Los Angeles - Lady Gaga plans to meet with President Barack Obama in a bid to stop bullying.

The Born This Way singer has been left distraught by the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer from Buffalo, New York, who committed suicide on September 18 after enduring years of ridicule about his sexuality.

Gaga - who is a prominent supporter of gay rights - wants to petition the US leader to create legislation which makes bullying at any age a crime.

In a series of tweets, she wrote: "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling. I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someones life.

"Jamey Rodemeyer, 14 yrs old, took his life because of bullying. Bullying must become be illegal. It is a hate crime.

"I am meeting with our President. I will not stop fighting. This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey (sic)"

Jamey had regularly blogged about the bullying he was suffering at school but his tormentors also followed him into cyberspace and several messages were left on his account on social media site Formspring calling him "gay and ugly" and encouraging him to kill himself.

On Saturday September 17, the day before he died, he posted the prophetic line "don't forget me when I come crying to heaven's door" from Gaga's song The Queen on his Facebook page followed by a tribute to the pop superstar and a message saying he was looking forward to seeing his late great-grandmother. Hours later he was tragically found dead.

    Go girl! Totally agree.

Declaring it a crime would never work.Rather educate on bullying from 1st grade on its negative effects and rewarding good behaviour will promote it.Show children the right way and they will follow it.

I for agree that knowledge is power and education is definitely the way to go. Looking back I was somewhat tortured but looking back today I see that I am able to weather the greatest storms life throws at me. Agreed bullying is a problem and extreme cases warrant intervention but if we don't learn these difficult lessons as children how do we survive as adults?

bullying is a crime of parents and then the kids follow. Lock up the parents. Gaga go girl - But dont loose focus. Parents create bullies.

Are you insane? The factors in the creation of bullies are many, i suggest you read up on it. Blaming the parent alone is narrow minded and stupid.

I would never hold a meeting with Gagga, I would be to scared. Gaga is the perfect example of the state we find society in today.
