Lamar Odom doesn't think he needs rehab

Los Angeles - Lamar Odom doesn't think he needs rehab to beat his drug problems.

The 33-year-old basketball player who is believed to have had a short spell at a treatment centre early last month to get help for his alleged crack cocaine problem is said to have been clean for five days now and thinks he can maintain his sobriety without attending a clinic.

According to gossip website TMZ, sources close to the star say that Lamar believes in "self-healing" and is hoping to overcome his problems through his own willpower as he has done it successfully before.

Lamar is willing to consider professional help but refuses to do so through rehab centres, preferring private measures.

In addition, he is cutting out certain "friends" who he thinks may be a bad influence to make sure he does not relapse.

The former Los Angeles Lakers star is also facing marital problems with Khloe Kardashian, his wife of four years, after allegations that he cheated on her with a number of women - including lawyer Polina Polonsky and Sandy Schultz - but he is reportedly more focused on getting his career back on track.

This news comes after both the Los Angeles Clippers and Los Angeles Lakers decided against giving him a contract to play for the upcoming season in the wake of the revelations about his personal life.
