Larry Hagman's mansion up for sale

Los Angeles - Larry Hagman's home has been put on the market for $6.5m.

The late Dallas star's wife Maj has put their 20 000 square-foot ranch in Ojai, California, up for sale just weeks after he passed away in November.

According to gossip website RadarOnline.com, the spectacular property has views of the Pacific Ocean and mountains in all directions and was purchased by the actor in 1987.

He slowly extended it from 1 500 square-foot into an enormous nine bedroom palace, with nine bathrooms and five swimming pools.

In a video tour of the home narrated by Larry, he describes how he and his wife instantly fell in love with the property when they first saw it, saying: "I took a look at it and that was on a Monday and Friday we owned the property. She said 'This is as close to heaven as I think we'll ever get.'"

'He didn't do sad'

He also credited his wife for completely transforming the property, saying: "I expected a nice little four bedroom house, I think it was 1,500 square feet so may added another 25,000 square feet."

Larry - who was best known for playing villainous J.R. Ewing in drama Dallas - lost his battle with cancer aged 81 in November 2012 and when his friend and co-star Linda Gray visited him in hospital, he told her he knew he wouldn't survive until Christmas.

"He said, 'I've got two weeks to live!' We went, 'What are you talking about? Come on, we've got a scene on Monday ... you're not going anywhere. That was the last time we saw him," Linda recently revealed.

Linda insists her friend's final days were not upsetting because he had accepted his fate and knew he had lived a long and full life.

She added: "He didn't do sad. He wanted everything to be glorious. He wasn't afraid of dying."
