Leon Schuster did not die in a car accident!

Johannesburg – Local funny man Leon Schuster told Beeld newspaper that he was shocked by reports he was involved in a serious car accident.

The comedian, who is currently in hospital recovering from knee surgery, said he was caught off-guard by all the messages from family members and friends concerned about his well-being after his “car accident”.

The fake message spread like a wildfire on BBM and claimed that the 63-year-old had passed away.

This is the second time that Schuster has been the victim of a death prank. Channel24 also reported about malicious rumours of his "death" in September 2012.

According to Schuster he was blissfully unaware of the fact that he had "died" and told Beeld; "Listen if I don’t even know about it, how could it have happened".

He has been recovering in the Little Company of Mary hospital after undergoing long-awaited knee replacement surgery.
