Liam Neeson's nephew suffers serious head injury

Los Angeles - Liam Neeson's nephew has reportedly suffered a "serious head injury".

The Taken 2 star, who was left devastated after his actress wife Natasha Richardson died from a brain injury following a skiing accident in Montreal, Canada in March 2009, has been in contact with his family since learning his sister Bernadette Sexton's son, Ronan Sexton, is in a "critical condition" in hospital.

A source told the MailOnline that Mr Sexton fell from the top of a telephone box in Brighton in East Sussex, England during a night out for a friend's 30th birthday and was rushed to Hurstwood Park Hospital in Haywards Heath, West Sussex.

Bernadette's partner Harry Shannon confirmed she was "in hospital with her son" on Thursday.

He added: "Bernadette is not in at the moment because she has been at the hospital all day in Haywards Heath visiting Ronan. I do not want to comment further."

Earlier this year, Liam, who lives in New York City with his sons, Micheál, 19, and Daniel, 18, admitted he is still grieving for their late mother.

The 62-year-old star said: "[Her death] was never real. It still kind of isn't. There's periods now in our New York residence when I hear the door opening, especially the first couple of years . . . anytime I hear that door opening, I still think I'm going to hear her."

He added: "It (grief) hits you. It's like a wave. You just get this profound feeling of instability . . . the Earth isn't stable anymore and then it passes and it becomes more infrequent, but I still get it sometimes."
