Liam Payne gets candid about his drinking problem in his first solo interview with Attitude magazine

Cape Town - Our second favourite One Directioner Liam Payne is showing off his best smoldering look on the cover of Attitude Magazine.

In the magazine, the 22-year-old singer opens up about his heavy drinking and partying days, the "Larry Stylinson" phenomenon and who he would date if he was gay.

On his wild partying time, Liam said: "I started drinking a lot and I began to get a bit tubbier," he explains. "In fact, because of that I was getting fat jibes all the time, which hurt me...I'm not afraid to say I went through a pretty bad stage."

He even recalls a fan event in which he showed up "a little bit drunk," saying: "There were just a few times that I went over the limit with things and then I had to pull it back.

"I was very fortunate that I had lots of great people around me who said to me, 'Look Liam, you need to chill out a bit now.'"

The 22-year-old then admitted he wishes that "Larry Stylinson" phenomenon (A fan fiction romantic relationship between Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) would stop.

He told Attitude mag: "When the [gay marriage] law changed in the U.S. there were loads of rainbow flags flying at our shows, but I think that was mainly because people think of the Louis and Harry thing, which is absolutely nuts and drives me insane.

"It's like when you know the ins and outs of what's going on with people, it's just annoying when it's so stupid...It becomes like a conspiracy or a cult."

While Liam wants "Larry Stylinson" to disappear he did admit that if he were gay for a day he'd date Louis, saying, "Louis is my best mate, he's the one I have the strongest connection with. Would I marry him? Well I couldn't as he is taken now."
