Lil Wayne's Miami mansion raided by police

Los Angeles - Lil Wayne's Miami Beach mansion has been raided by police.

The 33-year-old rapper's home was stormed by police on Tuesday who then seized assets as he had failed to pay a $2m judgement to an aeroplane leasing company, Signature Group, as well as a further $200k of legal fees.

The Lollipop hitmaker - whose real name is Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr - is believed to have an art collection worth more than $30m and several pieces have been removed from the property by police.

In helicopter footage of his sprawling estate, authorities can be seen removing items and placing them into a lorry with several of his sales plaques being taken.

According to TMZ, an expert was taken into his home to value items worth seizing to satisfy the debt.

Wayne - who served eight months in prison in 2010 for criminal possession of a weapon and marijuana - was not at home during the raid and is believed to be in Los Angeles, where he was seen at a strip club on Monday.

And although his security team attempted to prevent police from entering the home, a court order stated Miami-Dade County Sheriff's deputies should break the locks to get in if necessary.
