Lindsay Lohan: My family keeps me sane

Los Angeles - Lindsay Lohan's lawyer has blamed her family for her problems, even though the actress has claimed her family keeps her sane.

The 26-year-old actress's new legal representative Mark Heller wrote a letter to the judge in her criminal case asking her not to send the actress to jail for violating her probation and claiming he and prosecutors can work together to "fix" Lindsay, who is facing three misdemeanour counts involving a car crash last June after being charged for resisting, obstruction, providing false information to a police officer and reckless driving.

According to gossip website TMZ.com, in a letter to prosecutors Terry White and Spencer Hart filed with recent legal documents, Heller stated: "We, as a team, (can) help 'fix' Lindsay Lohan."

He then blamed Lindsay's ongoing legal troubles on her dysfunctional family and said they could not judge her "without considering the pain, torment and confusion which Lindsay has experienced and has been afflicted with".

'Inspirational talks'

During a recent court appearance, when asked what is helping her through her problems Lindsay replied to the judge: "Family. You can't get through anything without the family. Family is everything."

"Lindsay will gladly be participating in intensive psychotherapy, submitting herself to regular screenings and contributing her time to the production of public service messages," he wrote in the letter.

He also said the actress is willing to speak to young people in schools, hospitals and other places "where she may provide inspirational talks", before adding that he is currently exploring the idea of a Lindsay Lohan foundation that will provide a non-profit program to benefit young people.

Lindsay, who fired her long time lawyer Shawn Holley last month and reportedly owes her $300 000, recently claimed she needs her family to keep her sane.
