Local singer headed for Hollywood

New York - South African singer Lynn Brooks has been named as one of the 25 semi-finalists in the Avon Voices global singing talent search.

The Cape Town singer has emerged as one of the most talented singers out of 6 000 videos from more than 60 countries and she remains in the running for the coveted final two spots.

Brooks is set to fly off Hollywood in mid-July to record her final performance video for the next stage of voting.

"We are so proud of these 25 women. They have inspired us all with their extraordinary talent and beautiful and diverse stories," said Joe Billone of Avon.

The finalists will be selected by a combination of online public voting and a judging panel of music industry leaders including Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie, Natasha Bedingfield, Diane Warren, Delta Goodrem and others.

After Hollywood, the winning contestant will head to New York where she will receive a lucrative international recording deal.

The videos will be posted on www.avonvoices.com on July 22, and the next voting period is from July 22 until August 26.
