Louis Tomlinson's child will cost him a fortune but friends believe he will step up

Los Angeles - Louis Tomlinson's baby could reportedly cost him as much as £10m.

The 23-year-old singer is expecting a child with stylist Briana Jungwirth and even though their relationship only lasted a little over two weeks, the One Direction star is facing a maintenance bill of £20k a month until the child is 18.

A source explained: "This is a case of a very short-term thing that will end up costing Louis around £10m. But he knows this is his responsibility."

This comes shortly after Simon Cowell reportedly told Louis Tomlinson to "man up".

The music mogul - who formed the band on The X Factor and signed them to his record label Syco - revealed his reaction when Louis, 23, informed him that stylist Briana Jungwirth was having his baby.

Simon told The Sun on Sunday that he said to Louis, "You're fortunate because you're in a position to be able to look after the baby and not worry about too much else."

Father-of-one Simon, 55, added: "He didn't kill anyone, he just got someone pregnant."

Meanwhile fellow colleagues of the industry, 5 Seconds of Summer think Louis Tomlinson will "step up to the challenge" of becoming a father.

The She Looks So Perfect singers - who supported One Direction on two world tours - think it's great news that the 23-year-old star is set to have a baby with his former lover Briana Jungwirth.

Drummer Ashton Irwin said: "It's a beautiful thing. Childbirth is awesome. If it came from a one night thing, who cares? The way it's being dealt with is cool.

"The kid's being brought into a great position. He's never going to be hard-up. He's going to be brought up in a loving situation. Louis will step up to the challenge. My mum had me at 20."

However, the 21-year-old heartthrob - who is now headlining his own tour with bandmates Luke Hemmings, Michael Clifford and Calum Hood - insists he has no plans to become a father himself anytime soon as he's enjoying playing the field.

He told the Daily Mirror newspaper: "We're single. We date every now and then, like regular dudes. But then you're spotted with a lady and they are automatically your girlfriend - it's so intense.'"
