Los Angeles - It was reported that Mariah Carey's new beau James Packer wants to marry her but this has now been confirmed to be false.
The #Beautiful hitmaker, who split from Nick Cannon last summer after six years of marriage, and the Australian billionaire have only been dating since last week and although they are enjoying each others company , they are not talking about exchanging vows.
A source close to the 45-year-old singer told gossip website TMZ.com James wants to marry her sooner rather than later, and she is very open to the idea.
E! News however reported another source confirmed the new couple are not thinking of walking down the aisle anytime soon, she said: "They are not talking marriage. That's ridiculous. She's enjoying his company, but she's also trying to remain cautious. This trip is a chance for her to really get to know him. She hasn't 100 percent let him in yet."
She added: "She's having a lot of fun being courted. It's very different than when Nick Cannon was wooing her. To her, Nick was a boy. James is a man."
The Fantasy hitmaker is still legally married to Nick, with whom she has four-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan, but their divorce is expected to be finalised in the near future.
The couple, who were introduced by mutual friend Brett Ratner, are currently holidaying with her children on a lavish yacht near Sardinia, where James has been blaring Mariah's music for everyone in the area to hear.
The 47-year-old businessman, who has an estimated fortune of $4.7bn, fell for the singer after attending her concert in Las Vegas in early May and has been pursuing her ever since.
He was previously linked to top model Miranda Kerr, 32, following his split from second ex-wife Erica in 2013.
While Mariah has clearly moved on, Nick recently admitted he would never rule out the idea of them getting back together.
Speaking in April, he said: "It's one of those things, I'm a hopeless romantic too. Through this learning process, you never say never. To me one thing I know, that will always be the love of my life, always be my family and that's never going to change."
