Melinda Bam is FHM Sexiest Woman 2013

Cape Town - Former Miss South Africa Melinda Bam has been given the title of the Sexiest Woman in the World for 2013 by the local edition of men's magazine FHM.

The blonde bombshell, who was crowned Miss SA in 2011, was given the coveted title after placing 13th in FHM's 100 Sexiest Women in the World list last year, which saw hottie SA model Genevieve Morton take the top spot.

This year's announcement was made at two parties – one held in Johannesburg and another in Cape Town – to give FHM readers and fans, celebrities and influential members of the media the chance to join this year's FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World celebrations.

Other beauties featured in the FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2013 issue include more than 30 of South Africa's hottest such as Minki Van der Westhuizen, Simone de Kock, Rizelle Applegreen and Lee-Ann Liebenberg – who are featured alongside international hotties such as Kate Upton and Mila Kunis.

Pretoria-born Melinda, 24, is not only a beauty queen but is proving herself to be an enduring presence on the local fashion and celebrity scene, and is making waves with her own swimwear line Bambshell, working alongside South African swimwear brand Dax Martin.

Melinda grabbed headlines last year when she controversially pulled out of representing South Africa at the 2012 Miss World pageant.

Without going into details, Melinda said she made the decision for "personal reasons", leading to widespread speculation that she was haunted by a "wild past" and that nude photographs of her has been leaked.

The alleged nude pics never surfaced and Melinda's first princess Remona Moodley went on to represent South Africa at the Miss World competition held in China.
