Monaco royals relaunch Facebook page

Los Angeles - The Monaco royal family has relauched their official Facebook fanpage to coincide with the principality's National Day.

The palace has announced details of the new site set up to replace the one created for the nuptials of Prince Albert and Princess Charlene in July, leading to speculation that another important announcement could be coming shortly.

The launch of the new site on Saturday coincided with National Day celebrations and the royal family used the popular social networking site to detail the party plans.

The event description reads: "The National Festival which will be commemorated on November 19, is the occasion for the national community to celebrate its identity and its traditions. Many ceremonies and festivities along with reflection of Monegasques specificities and traditions will take place on this occasion."

Royal pages

Meanwhile, the Swedish royal family have also recently launched a Facebook page to keep their subjects informed of their activities.

Earlier this year Britain's Queen Elizabeth signed up to the popular social networking site allowing fans of the royal to receive frequent updates on her day-to-day activities.

A royal aide said: "The queen has approved the decision - she knows all about Facebook. Facebook is the final frontier in the royal family's foray into digital technology.

"It's basically the royal household's way of broadening its appeal and communicating to members of the public. The queen knows all her grandchildren use Facebook and it would be remiss of the household not to be keeping up-to-date with the web."

Facebook users will also be able to search for royal events happening in their area through the Court Circular, which is the official record of the queen's engagements.
