Nick Cannon tweets racial discrimination

Los Angeles - Nick Cannon claims he gets pulled over by police once a week because he is a "black man in a nice car".

The America's Got Talent host was stopped by cops on Wednesday as he was driving home after attending the Google Music Launch party at Mr Brainwash Studio in Los Angeles.

He has since taken to his Twitter account to complain about his frequent unwarranted run-ins with the law which he believes happen because of his skin colour.

He tweeted: "Just got pulled over again. For the 1st time ever... The Cop let me go! He was a black man! 'Preciate it Brotha!!

"Now in LA I get pulled over like once a week. Honestly, I think it's because I'm a Black man in a nice car. #KnowyourplaceBOY. (sic)"

Nick - who is married to Mariah Carey, with whom he has six-month-old twins Moroccan and Monroe - claims he has been persecuted by police officers ever since he was a teenager and one occasion a cop pulled a gun on him while he was riding his bike.

The 31-year-old star wrote on Twitter: "Growing up, I never liked Cops. Always felt they were bullies. I guess I shouldn't stereotype... At age 13 a Cop pulled me over on my bike with his gun drawn. What the hell did he think I was going to do?! (sic)"
