Nick and Vanessa Lachey welcome baby no 2

Los Angeles - Nick and Vanessa Lachey have welcomed their second child into the world.

The 34-year-old beauty announced the news by posting a piece on her own website, revealing their newborn daughter, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey, was born on Monday and weighed in at 3.4kg.

Vanessa wrote: "She's HERE!!!! Nick, Camden and I are SO excited to announce the birth of our sweet, beautiful baby girl, Brooklyn Elisabeth Lachey! She was born January 5th, 2015 at 5:17pm. She weighed in at 7 pounds 15 ounces, is 21 inches long and has already won over all of our hearts.

"I have been dreaming of this moment for as long as I can remember, the day I was going to meet my little girl. A friend recently told me how magical today was going to be because it's the day I would meet my best friend.

"I can't even begin to tell you how it felt to hold her in my arms for the very first time. ''Mommy, Daddy and big brother Cam love you so much already, Brooklyn!

"Thank you to everyone for your love and support, it means so much to our family. Xx, The Lacheys (sic)"

Nick, 41, and Vanessa - who already have a son, two-year-old Camden - announced in July that the TV personality was expecting their second child.

The couple started dating in 2006 after she appeared in the singer/songwriter's music video for song What's Left of Me and despite breaking up in June 2009, they got back together just four months later and went onto marry in July 2011.

Nick was previously married to Jessica Simpson for four years but he recently revealed he is not "in contact at all" with the singer.
