Nicole Kidman, Keith Urban welcome baby

Los Angeles - Australian actress Nicole Kidman and her husband country music singer Keith Urban announced on Monday the birth of their second child, Faith Margaret.

The girl was born on December 28 in Nashville, Tennessee, her "proud parents" said in a statement. Faith Margaret Kidman Urban was born through a surrogate mother but is Kidman and Urban's biological child, they added.

"Our family is truly blessed, and just so thankful, to have been given the gift of baby Faith Margaret. No words can adequately convey the incredible gratitude that we feel for everyone who was so supportive throughout this process, in particular our gestational carrier."

Kidman and her husband, both 43, seemed to have waited until after Sunday's Golden Globes award ceremony was over before making the announcement.

The couple attended the awards gala in Beverly Hills, where Kidman was nominated for her leading role in Rabbit Hole. However, it was Natalie Portman who took home the win for best actress after her Black Swan performance.

Kidman, who won an Oscar in 2003 for her role in Stephen Daldry's The Hours, gave birth to her first daughter Sunday Rose in July 2008. She is also the mother, from her previous marriage to Tom Cruise, to adopted children Isabella Jane, 18, and Connor Anthony, 16.

Kidman and Urban have been married since 2006.
