Nikki Reed confirms her engagement to Ian Somerhalder

Los Angeles - Nikki Reed has confirmed her engagement to Ian Somerhalder.

The 26-year-old stunner has admitted the couple - who have been dating for the past six months - are set to marry and insists her husband-to-be is one of the most "amazing" people who has ever stepped foot on planet earth.

She said: "He's so beautiful inside and out! He's quite possibly the most amazing man that's ever walked the planet, it's crazy. I'm so lucky, I love him."

While the pair - who got engaged earlier this month and moved in after just three weeks of dating - are yet to have kids, they do have four dogs, three cats and two horses together and the Twilight star insists it just felt "natural" to have pets with Ian because she is so used to looking after four-legged friends.

She added to Us Weekly: "We love our animals so much. Since the time I could walk, I was doing all these fosters, rehabs, and rescues. My mom and I have done this together, and it was natural to continue it."

News of the pair's marriage plans came shortly after they were spotted looking at engagement rings in a jewellery store in Los Angeles.

A source said: "They were absolutely adorable inside the jewellery store and you could tell they are very much in love. Nikki was pointing out items for Ian and vice versa."

Ian, 36, previously dated his The Vampire Diaries co-star Nina Dobrev until they split in May 2013, while Nikki filed for divorce from singer/songwriter Paul McDonald - who she married in October 2011 - in May 2014, citing irreconcilable differences, their separation was finalised earlier this month.
