Nkandla readies for Zuma wedding

Johannesburg - The President's house will be filled next week with guests for Duduzile Zuma's traditional ceremony (umemulo) prior to her wedding day.

On Wednesday, an Umemulo will be held at President Jacob Zuma's house in Nkandla, two days before the white wedding.

Duduzile will be in the limelight, showcasing her traditional dancing skills.

The first daughter will say "I do" to businessman and former chief executive of ANC Youth League Company Lembede Investment Holdings, Lonwabo Sambudla.

Priority treatment

It's rumoured that the two met through a friend and fell in love before Sambudla paid full lobola to the Zuma family last year.

They announced their engagement in September last year and the traditional engagement (umembeso) was performed in Nkandla last December.

The president is expected to arrive at his home on Tuesday as this traditional ceremony is important to the family and is given priority treatment.

Business people and dignitaries attending umemulo will also be there when the president's daughter walks down the aisle in East London at the weekend.

Glass marquee

Duduzile is a founder of the Dudu Zuma Foundation for underprivileged women and children and the foundation provides support through fundraising and various other initiatives.

On April 23, Duduzile will say her vows at Nkwenkwezi Lodge in East London. The wedding has a Parisian theme and there will be five bridesmaids.

It is said that the bride will be wearing a dress covered with Swarovski crystals and the shoes are a glittery silver pair of Christian Louboutins.

A special glass marquee has already been erected in the lodge grounds and it will be decorated in rich white linen with a burst of colour in the form of red roses.
