One very good reason for you to start watching Sesame Street again!

Los Angeles - One Direction are to appear on Sesame Street.

The British boy band put an educational spin on their debut single What Makes You Beautiful for their upcoming appearance on the iconic US children's programme next season, in order to help young kids learn the alphabet.

In a preview clip posted to Youtube, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson pay tribute to the letter "U" by singing along to the track which lists words that begin with letter while a puppet appears alongside them.

Harry declares on the track: "26 letters are in the alphabet, but we're here to sing about you."

The Kiss You hitmakers aren't the only stars who will appear in the long-running series, as R&B singer Janelle Monae, Macklemore and actress Tina Fey have also been filmed for the show, which plays host to famed puppets Elmo and Big Bird.

Celebrities regularly make appearances on 'Sesame Street' with Beyonce, Justin Bieber and David Beckham being just some of the stars to appear over the years.

Meanwhile, One Direction will begin their 'Where We Are' stadium world tour later this spring, kicking off their first concert on 25 April in Colombia.
