Outrage over new Rolling Stone cover

2013-07-17 11:28
New York - Rolling Stone magazine's decision to put Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the accused Boston Marathon bomber, on the cover of its latest issue has ignited a firestorm of outrage online, reports CNN.

The magazine, known for putting celebrities and rock stars on their cover, have come under fire for using Tsarnaev’s photo on the front page of their latest issue.

The picture is one that Tsarnaev himself posted online and has been published widely by other media outlets in the past.

Social media has been abuzz with harsh criticism since the cover was first revealed on the magazine's Facebook page.

"I think it's wrong to make celebrities out of these people. Why give the guy the cover of Rolling Stone? TIME gave Charles Manson the cover and all the magazines carried pictures of the Columbine shooters on the covers, too. Don't make martyrs out of these people," Shawn Anthony, a reader, wrote. His comment got 685 likes from other readers.
