Cape Town - Spring has sprung! It’s the season for spring-cleaning and Elana Afrika-Bredenkamp’s shoe cupboards need clearing out too! This week she launches #ElanaShoes, a new campaign to give her own shoes to her fans.
Every shoe tells a story. Like the cream stilettos she wore to the SAMA’s.The red heels she wore on stage with Jared Leto from 30 Seconds to Mars. The pink ones she wore on Noot vir Noot. The black heels she wore next to SA rapper AKA.
Now those shoes and many more can be yours. From this week, Elana is giving away one pair of her own size 5’s on elanaafrika.com. There will be a weekly blog on her site telling the history behind that week’s giveaway - why she bought them, and why they have to be yours!
We asked Elana five really important shoe related questions:
If you could walk a mile in someone else’s shoes, who would it be?
Minnie Mouse. I had a Minnie Mouse figurine as a kid, and her shoes couldn't come off. It was mega annoying. Must be hard to wear your shoes and sleep in it like a cowboy - but just think of the amazing stories she could tell of where her shoes have walked!
This is a bit like Sophie’s choice. But we have to ask: Manolo Blahnik or Jimmy Choo?
Jimmy Choo. Most men can't spell Blahniks when they are writing out cheques. Let’s keep it simple here.
Complete this sentence: If the shoe fits…
...that's great. If it doesn’t...just smile until you get home!
Cinderella lost her shoe on the steps of the palace after the ball. Has this ever happened to you?
O yessssss! I was hosting a ladies conference and ran up five stairs to quickly dash out to the loo. I lost a heel and had 500 girls all gasped for air as they saw me "breakdance" up the stairs. I survived it. And had the heel glued back on!
