Los Angeles - Paris Hilton celebrated her 30th birthday with a squirrel monkey.
The socialite - who reached the milestone age on Thursday held a Moulin Rouge-themed party at V-Moda Fortress, a private house in the Hollywood Hills on Tuesday and the bash had its own petting zoo.
The miniature menagerie featured a lynx, porcupine, squirrel monkey and sloth for guests to meet and was the blonde beauty's first stop when she arrived at 23:00.
Handlers were humane
A source told E!: "Paris loved the animals and made sure that the handlers were humane before she worked with them. She asked a lot of questions about their care."
Paris was joined for the special night by her boyfriend Cy Waits, sister Nicky and parents Rick and Kathy, and a host of other guests including Kathy Griffin.
One cake is not enough
Refreshments on hand included absinthe, champagne and cocktails, and revellers also snacked on mini-burgers, mini-grilled cheese sandwiches and other canapes.
There were also two cakes for the birthday girl. One of the baked treats was decorated with a photograph of Paris, while the other had black and red icing and was multi-tiered.
The evening was recorded for the blonde socialite's new reality TV show The World According To Paris.
Paris is set to have a second birthday celebration at top New York restaurant Lavo tonight.
