Perez Hilton pens children's book

Los Angeles - Outspoken Hollywood blogger Perez Hilton has authored a children's book titled The Boy With Pink Hair that is meant to celebrate individuality, his publisher said on Tuesday.

The story tells of a child born with a shock of pink hair that some of his peers find hard to accept. But he learns to embrace what makes him different, according to Celebra Children's Books, an imprint of Penguin Group (USA) Inc.

Hilton is an openly gay journalist who was born Mario Armando Lavandeira, Jr.  His Hollywood moniker is a play on the name of celebrity heiress Paris Hilton.

Early in his career, he built his successful blog by drawing rude pictures or writing mean-spirited comments over celebrity photographs, but in October, Hilton vowed to end his public bullying.

The Boy With Pink Hair is scheduled for publication in September 2011, and it will have a first printing of 75 000 copies, Penguin said.
