Cape Town - He has been forcing us South Africans to laugh at ourselves since the sixties. He formed his own political party and he calls a repurposed train station in Darling home.
He’s one of South Africa’s most beloved satirists - and so is she. But on Friday Pieter Dirk Uys had to leave Tannie Evita at home and do it alone as he stood in for Redi Tlhabi on radio.
As the Friday stand-in Uys had to take over the Friday edition of the Redi Tlhabi show on 567 CapeTalk and Talk Radio 702.
It required him to balance the diverse views coming in from listeners during an hour of open line.
He had to get his head around science with The Naked Scientist, got a quirky take on the week from local comedian Nik Rabinowitz, talked tech with Aki Anastasiou and had a conversation about sex with Dr Eve.
