Prostitute role attracted Chloe Grace Moretz to <em>The Equalizer</em> script

Los Angeles - Chloe Grace Moretz wanted to play a prostitute.

The 17-year-old actress - who stars as a lady of the night alongside Denzel Washington in the action thriller film The Equalizer - has confessed the dark character is "what attracted her to the script".

The part of Teri - a Russian call girl and aspiring singer - was originally written for a 24 year old but the young star was keen to take on the role as it portrays the usually "exploited" character of a prostitute in an "unsexualised" way.

When asked how she felt about playing a prostitute, she told MTV: "That's what attracted me to the script. She's a girl who was sexualized by life, but the movie completely unsexualized her. You don't see that with a lot of young female characters in general, but especially when you're playing a prostitute, or a lady of the night... It's usually very much exploited."

The Kick Ass star also revealed she was inspired after meeting women who had shared the experiences of her character in real life and channelled their "fire"and passion for their dreams into her portrayal.

She explained: "When I met these girls at this organisation called The Children Of The Night, that's what I found with them.

"I mean sure, they've done this stuff, they've had this whole life. But what I saw were these beautiful young girls who had so much inside them. They had this fire, and these dreams. It was just so real, and alive."
