Proudly bleached: Black star goes white

Cape Town - Mshoza, the singer also known as Miss J, has never been shy.

Her in-your-face behaviour and barely-there outfits can attest to that. Cosmetic surgery is a big hit with her and in the space of two years she’s had a boob job, a nose job, liposuction and hours of dental work.

But Mshoza, 28, has topped it all with her latest venture: skin-lightening treatment that's changed her complexion from chocolate to vanilla – and caused quite a controversy in the process.

She has little time for people who say nasty things about her.

Accentuating beauty

"I'm tired of people telling me what to do, how to live my life. If they think this skin lightening has something to do with low self-esteem then they're wrong.

"Women across the world use beauty products to lighten their skins and there has never been an issue with it," she insists.

"Everyone has ways they're accentuating their beauty, from buying expensive weaves to tweezing their eyebrows. So why am I being judged for this?"
