Rick James gets Beyoncé in the mood

Los Angeles - Beyoncé has given a glimpse into her life, admitting she listens to Make Love To Me by Rick James before heading to bed with Jay-Z.

The 31-year-old singer spoke in a behind the scenes video of her sizzling photo shoot with GQ magazine, opening up on her life in the spotlight and the music that puts her in the mood for lovemaking.

She said: "If I'm scared, be scared, allow it, release it, move on. I think I need to go listen to Make Love to Me and make love to my husband."

The couple have been married since 2008, and in January 2012 Beyoncé gave birth to their daughter Blue Ivy Carter, their first child together.

A sense of empowerment

The stunning Love On Top hitmaker flirted with the camera during the raunchy shoot in her own home, in one shot appearing in just knickers and an over-sized, unbuttoned shirt.

Other clips see the curvy star giving viewers a rare view into her life in the bedroom, posing on her bed with an American football in underwear and cropped NFL top.

Talking to the magazine, Beyoncé admitted she always hoped to influence ladies around the world, striving for a sense of empowerment - but it's not sinking in now that she's achieved it.

She said: "When I was writing the Destiny's Child songs, it was a big thing to be that young and taking control.

"And the label at the time didn't know that we were going to be that successful, so they gave us all control.

"And I got used to it. It is my goal in life to be that example. I now know that, yes, I am powerful. I'm more powerful than my mind can even digest and understand."
