Ricky Martin axed gig for love

2012-03-09 22:01

Los Angeles - Ricky Martin once cancelled a gig to go on a date.

The Livin La Vida Loca hitmaker - who has been with partner Carlos Gonzalez Abella for four years - admitted it was very "expensive" to make up an excuse for scrapping the show, but he felt it was worth it at the time.

He said: "I cancelled a show once to be with someone that I loved.

"I had one day. I thought, 'You live in another country, I live in another country. This is incredible and I feel amazing.'"

Most expensive date

"My manager came up with some excuse. It was the most expensive date I've ever been on. But hey that was a very beautiful day."

Ricky - who is father to three-year-old twins Matteo and Valentino - shot to fame as a member of boy band Menudo and says life in the group taught him how to be sexy from a very early age.

He told Details magazine: "Being part of a boy band, you'd move your hips and girls would scream. I was only 12 - I was a child.

"There was a guy that was 16. He would shake his hips better than me and he'd get more screams. It was like, 'Oh shit, I'm sexy. But I'm not that sexy.'"
