Rihanna, Chris Brown reunite on Twitter

Los Angeles - Rihanna has reconnected with Chris Brown on Twitter.

The S&M singer added her ex-boyfriend to the list of people she follows on the micro-blogging website and he has added her in return.

Two years ago the Kiss Kiss singer attacked Rihanna leaving her with a split lip and cuts and bruises to her face.

Twitter followers of the pop star expressed concern she had made contact with Brown and openly speculated as to whether the stars had rekindled their romance.

After one fan asked if she was back with her former boyfriend Rihanna snapped: "its fu**in twitter, not the altar! (sic)"

No relationship

After the admirer became upset she quickly apologised, explaining that she wanted to make it clear to all her followers that she was not back in a relationship with Chris.

She wrote: "babygirl I'm sorry, I didn't mean to hurt or offend u! Just needed to make it clear to the Navy! I still Stan for u xoxo. (sic)"

Chris, 21, was sentenced to five years probation and six months of community service for assaulting Rihanna in February 2009.

Last month, the 23-year-old star revealed she didn't expect to ever talk to him again despite agreeing to have a restraining order against him relaxed so he could more easily carry on with his career.

Rihanna explained: "We don't have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn't want to make it more difficult for him professionally.

"What he did to me was a personal thing. It had nothing to do with his career. Saying he has to be a hundred feet away from me, he can't perform at awards shows, that definitely made it difficult for him. That was the only thing it was going to change, so I didn't care."
