Los Angeles - In a brand new documentary Hollywood actor Robert De Niro is opening up about his late father.
The Godfather actor's dad was openly gay and worked as an artist while living in New York City.
De Niro says the reason for making the documentary was to showcase his father’s art and to share his legacy with the world.
In the documentary, Remembering the Artist: Robert De Niro, Sr, Robert goes on to say that it was his responsibility to make a documentary about his father. Even though he had planned on doing the documentary in the past, he never got around to actually doing it.
It is revealed in the documentary that De Niro's father felt somewhat conflicted about his homosexuality.
The 70-year-old actor also confessed that he was not aware of his father’s sexuality as a child.
