Robert De Niro wore socks during sex

Los Angeles - Robert De Niro wore socks during sex.

Actress and model Carole Mallory claims she had a 14-day affair with the screen legend after they met in 1975 at Hollywood's Chateau Marmont hotel, and she says the actor left his comfortable foot-warmers on while the pair had made love, which she later recognised was part of his "flighty spirit".

Writing in her latest book Picasso's Ghost, obtained by the New York Post newspaper, she explained: "During lovemaking, he never stopped looking in my eyes. He had a butterfly tattoo that I later realised matched his flighty spirit. So did the fact he left his socks on.

"The following year he married Diahnne Abbott... I would have appreciated a phone call."

Carole details her relationship and broken engagement to legendary artist Pablo Picasso's son Claude as well as her affairs with Richard Gere and The Pink Panther star Peter Sellers, who she says reminded her of a "giant panda bear" because he was so hairy.

'Terribly wounded'

She writes in the novel: "I kissed him all over his hairy body. He had hair everywhere. He even had it on his back. I liked it. He reminded me of a giant panda bear.

"I think maybe he was too filled with self-loathing. Alcohol temporarily masked that and freed him from his demonic thoughts about himself."

Carole admits she deliberately sought out big-name stars to date to prove she was "OK", but she was left feeling "terribly wounded" when her relationship with Claude came to an end.

"I was jilted by Claude Picasso, and I spent most of my life trying to shore up my bad feelings about myself," she added.

"A lot of my seeking out famous men was to prove I was OK. I felt terribly wounded when he jilted me. I felt validated by celebrities."
