Ryan O'Neal's son pleads not guilty

Los Angeles - Redmond O'Neal has pleaded not guilty to felony firearms and drug charges.

The 26-year-old son of Love Story actor Ryan O' Neal and the late actress Farrah Fawcett appeared in front of Judge Keith Schwartz at the LAX Airport Courthouse on Thursday to face the charges and according to his lawyer Richard Pintalis, Redmond has been held without bail pending another hearing.

Pintalis told RadarOnline: "We received the discovery and the next hearing is set for August 24. We hope that we can achieve a resolution of these matters that would involve additional further treatment for Mr O'Neal. The judge denied bail; we respectfully implored the court so that Mr O'Neal could receive assistance and treatment for the underlying causes of all of his criminal cases."

Troubled star

The troubled reality TV star - whose father Ryan and siblings Tatum and Patrick O' Neal appeared in court to support him - was stopped by police officers after he ran a red light in Santa Monica, California on Tuesday and a search of the vehicle allegedly revealed narcotics and a weapon.

The criminal complaint filed against Redmond by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office on Thursday states: "A Felony, was committed by Redmond James O' Neal, who did unlawfully own, possess, purchase, receive, and have custody and control of a firearm, to wit, handgun, the said defendant having theretofore been duly and legally convicted of a felony or felonies."

This is the latest in a long line of problems for Redmond who spent time in rehab in 2010 and remains on probation for a 2009 incident in which he brought narcotics onto the grounds of a jail facility.
