Shakira defends raunchy music videos

Los Angeles - Shakira has hit out at critics of her sexually charged music videos.

The singer has come under fire after the raunchy promo clip for Can't Remember To Forget You - her duet with Rihanna - but she has argued she is not allowing herself to be "objectified".

She told The Independent newspaper: "You see baseball players grabbing each other's asses, and nobody says anything! I don't think that I put myself in any situation in which I am objectified.

"But I do take advantage of, you know, feeling sensual and feeling sexy.

"And I think that is tremendously empowering and is not diminishing in any way. I feel that any woman who is in control, who is in touch with her femininity and sensuality, is a woman that is empowered."

'I like that he protects his turf'

The Hips Don't Lie hitmaker recently admitted that her husband Gerard Pique has banned her from making music videos with other men.

She said: "He's very territorial, and since he no longer lets me do videos with men, well, I have to do them with women.

"It's more than implied in our relationship that I can't do videos like I used to. It's out of the question - which I like, by the way.

"I like that he protects his turf and he values me, in a way that the only person he would ever let graze my thigh would be Rihanna."
