Sharon Osbourne writing children's book

Los Angeles - Sharon Osbourne is writing a children's book for Disney.

The X Factor UK judge says it is an "honour" to have penned Jake and the Never Land Pirates: Mama Hook Knows Best, her first-ever book.

It is based within the world of TV series Jake and the Never Land Pirates, in which she voices Captain Hook's mother.

Penning the book an 'honour'

She said, "I have such a wonderful time playing Mama Hook on Jake and the Never Land Pirates."

"To be able to take that role to the book world and share Mama Hook's stories with families around the world is an honour."

"I hope kids enjoy reading Mama Hook's pirate tales and continue to fall in love with her, just as I have."

She is partnering with Disney Worldwide Publishing and Parragon Books and the work should be released next year.

Leaving kids to work a 'mistake'

Sharon recently opened up about her own children, insisting leaving them while she and husband Ozzy Osbourne were busy working was her "biggest mistake".

She previously admitted, ''We both worked to continue a lifestyle we had become accustomed to and we had to travel, so my kids spent quite a lot of time away from us and you can never get that time back."

"It was the biggest mistake I ever did. I don't know how but Jack and Kelly came out just great."
