Snoop Dogg just launched a weed website

Los Angeles - Snoop Dogg has launched a cannabis lifestyle website.

The rapper - who has made no secret of his love of the herbal drug - has partnered with Ted Chung to create Merry Jane, a play on the slang term for marijuana, Mary Jane, and called it a "premier media platform at the centre of cannabis and pop culture".

The site will feature information about marijuana products and a location-mapping tool to show dispensaries.

One segment of the site Deflowered, has been described as a "ground-breaking interview series that will profile innovative people as they enjoy cannabis".

Explaining his vision for the site, Snoop said: "There are so many people in the closet. We are giving them an opportunity to come out of the closet and just admit they like to smoke. I'm a smoker, my name is Snoop Dogg, and I'm a stoner.

"It is a peace situation for me. Every time I have been around it, I have seen beautiful things happen. I've seen people manifest love, peace and harmony.

"'We will be like the encyclopedia to the cannabis world."

Famous cannabis smokers Seth Rogen and singer Miley Cyrus are also involved with the website.

Announcing the project at the TechCrunch Disrupt conference in San Francisco, Snoop revealed that the website will accept 420 users per day ahead of the official launch in October.

4/20 is a code-term that refers to the consumption of cannabis.
