Sofia Vergara rushed to aid of woman

Los Angeles - Sofia Vergara kicked off 2012 by coming to the aid of a woman who collapsed in Las Vegas.

The Modern Family star was leaving Hyde nightclub at the Bellagio in the early hours of New Year's Day when she saw the unnamed woman fall and quickly rushed to help along with her friend.

According to gossip website TMZ, Sofia's friend had medical training and was seen checking the woman's pulse with the pair keeping the woman calm and waiting with her until the paramedics arrived.

'A shock'

Although the New Year's Eve actress is more successful than ever as she approaches her 40th birthday in June, she has previously revealed her brush with thyroid cancer in 2000 has made her appreciate the good things that happen to her.

She said: "You work hard, you live a healthy lifestyle and then you get the news you have cancer. Thank God I had the kind of cancer that is much more easily treated than other terrible cancers.

"But it was still a shock. The good thing is that an experience like that makes you understand what is important in life."
