Cape Town - Steve Hofmeyr wants to marry again.
The Afrikaans singer took to his Twitter page on Wednesday to announce that he has asked his girlfriend Janine van der Vyver to marry him.
He tweeted: "Janine hou die 1ste HALODA vas. Binne in,sal jy ook sien,is die uitnodiging: sal jy oorweeg om my vrou te word...Sy dink ek grap. Sê dan ja!"
The Afrikaans tweet loosely translates as: Janine is holding the first HALODA [Haloda is the name of his current CD]. Inside, you'll also see, the invitation: Will you consider being my wife... She thinks I'm joking. Then says yes!
Hofmeyr confirmed on his Facebook page on Wednesday that Van der Vyver accepted his proposal and that they are now officially engaged. Hofmeyr asked Van der Vyver to marry him during a shoot for his new music video, Kol Op Die Maan, in a castle in the Maluti mountains.
On his Facebook page, Hofmeyr explains that he asked Van der Vyver to proofread his new CD cover: "At the back of my new CD cover I asked her, below the acknowledgements, whether she will consider being my wife. She almost didn't see it! When she looked up, the ring was ready!"
His son Armand posted a message of congratuations on his Twitter page, saying: "Goeie werk pa, baie bly vir julle,geniet dit :( wil ook trou.." (well done Dad, very happy for you, enjoy it. :( I also want to get married..)
