Steve Hofmeyr's Wiki page hacked

Cape Town - Steve Hofmeyr's Wikipedia page was hacked on Monday.

Steve Hofmeyr's bio on the popular online encyclopedia was edited for a brief period on Monday and referred to the South African singer as "a prominent member of the Mormon Church split group, known as The Morons, who believe members should conceive as many children with as many women as possible".

The page also contained various other fake details about the singer and actor.

"He moonlights as the popular drag queen, Eugèníè, in an act involving horses and pumpkins."

This seems to be a reference to one of Hofmeyr's most popular songs titled Pampoen (which translates to pumpkin in English).

The edited entry also had fun with Hofmeyr's pro-Afrikaner stance.

"In addition, Hofmeyr is the honorary chairman of Avrikaanirs met Leer Probleeme (Afrikaners with Learning Disabilities), which he often consults for ideas for his songs and lyrics."

Not bothered

Hofmeyr wrote on his Twitter page that this happens "almost weekly".

The page has since been rectified and the humorous yet incorrect 'facts' have been removed.

This is a screengrab of what the page looked like before being fixed.
