Johannesburg – Natasha Sutherland, estranged wife of singer Steve Hofmeyr, has publicly revealed her feelings about Hofmeyr's recent engagement to Janine van der Vyver.
Sutherland has said that the fact that she will always be tied to "The two people who have probably hurt me most in my life, is a bitter pill to swallow".
"Does it hurt a little bit? Of course it does, I am not invincible.
"But what hurts is not the way he feels, but that he knows that it might hurt me, and then goes ahead and says it anyway," says Sutherland in reaction to Hofmeyr's declaration about Van der Vyfer that "she laughs, she is gentle. She will die for me, and I for her".
Freedom
Sutherland explains in the new issue of Finesse magazine that the announcement of Hofmeyr's engagement to the woman that was the reason for the breakdown of their marriage and their subsequent ongoing divorce, made her feel tempted to "use all the ammunition I've got to hurt him in return".
"But I will not do it, because he is the father of my children and I can almost smell freedom…it's just on the other side of the mire."
