Trevor Noah to star in US sitcom

Johannesburg - Fans of Trevor Noah have been celebrating the news this weekend that the South African comedian is to star in his own US sitcom.

Website, www.deadline.com, reported that the sitcom would be "inspired by Noah's comedy and life".

The half-hour show will be produced by Overbrook entertainment - a company co-owned by Hollywood celebrity couple Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith.

One tweet reacting to the news was from Geoffrey York who said: "Let's just hope Will Smith doesn't turn Trevor Noah into "The Fresh Prince of Soweto"."

Thulani Siyo, tweeted his support for Noah by declaring: "So Trevor Noah has landed himself a sitcom in the states? Now that's ayoba!!!"
