'Vanessa sacrificed career for Johnny's'

Los Angeles - Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis reportedly had "blazing arguments" before they split.

The former model and aspiring singer is said to have resented her partner's successful career, causing huge tension in their relationship.

A friend told website UsMagazine: "They'd have blazing fights. Vanessa would take her frustrations out on him. [Johnny, in turn] started to drink heavily."

According to the source, 39-year-old Vanessa, pushed the actor to take up roles which went on the be a huge success, such as 2003's Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

The insider continued: "Vanessa started to feel like she'd sacrificed her career for his.

"Nothing Johnny did was ever good enough for Vanessa. When he was working, she wasn't happy. And when he wasn't working, he was called a slob for not doing enough for the kids and her family."

Kids' needs first

The two are parents to 13-year-old Lily-Rose and 10-year-old Jack and apparently always put their children's needs first.

The friend continued: "It broke Johnny's heart that the family he loves so much was becoming fractured."

The last time the former couple was photographed together on the red carpet was in 2010 and Johnny was apparently "heartbroken" when their relationship began to come to an end.

On June 19, Johnny's representative released a statement explaining that they had "amicably separated."

The source added: "Johnny was heartbroken but they agreed the kids' lives shouldn't be affected. That's why they didn't announce it."
