Cape Town – Port Elizabeth born Nikki Williams, who is married to American actor Nicolas Cage's son Weston, is getting a divorce after four months of marriage.
Attie Williams, Nikki Williams Cage's father, confirmed the divorce to Die Burger on Thursday.
"She says she is divorcing and I believe her. It is for her own good that it's happening. He (Weston Cage, 20) will wreck her career."
Williams said he returned from America this week after visiting his daughter.
"She is actually doing very well. She has lots of talent and she's involved with a good music company. "
'Terrible experience'
According to Williams, his daughter will return to South Africa in January 2012 to attend her sister's wedding.
Nikki Cage announced the news on her Facebook page on Thursday.
"To divorce is a terrible experience," she said.
Concerned friends have sympathised and given advice.
She later wrote: "My heart is broken, but I had to make the right choices."
Nikki and Weston married in April on a luxury yacht on Lake Pontchartrain in New Orleans. Nicolas Cage also attended the wedding.
Weston Cage was admitted to hospital for psychiatric observation in Los Angeles in June.
