London - Britain's Prince William and Kate Middleton's impending US visit is "the talk of Hollywood".
The royal couple - who will arrive in Los Angeles on July 8 following their week-long tour of Canada – are set to be welcomed to America by Sir Elton John and his partner David Furnish, both of whom attended their nuptials on April 29, with a glittering party.
Meanwhile, A-list stars are said to be "tripping over themselves" to meet the newly-married Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.
An insider told the Mail on Sunday newspaper: "The royal visit is the talk of Hollywood. The deal is that several stars and organisations have been asked to put forward proposals for charity events and galas.
"William and Kate will go through all the options and it will be down to them to pick what they want to do."
Number of events
Those not involved in the visit have been advised to "leave town to avoid humiliation", with insiders saying there hasn't been so much excitement about the British royal family since the days of the late Princess Diana.
A source said: "This is the hottest event ever. If you don’t get invited you will have to leave town to avoid humiliation. There hasn’t been excitement like this about a trip since the days of Princess Di."
Meanwhile, Prince William - who is president of the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) - has asked the organisation to propose a number of events on his behalf for the royal visit.
A BAFTA insider added: "We are suggesting several ideas, including a tea party, a cricket match and also a more formal gala evening to promote the British film industry."
