Zone 14 actress dies in hospital

Johannesburg - Thuli Simelane, better known as 'Tjovoo' by fans of SABC 1's popular drama series Zone 14, has died.

Times Live reports that the actress was admitted to Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital in Johannesburg about four weeks ago.

After three weeks in ICU, the actress died on Saturday morning due to a heart condition called pericardial effusion – fluid around the heart, says The New Age.

The 37-year-old mother of two had been suffering from the condition for some time before her untimely death, and according to Drum magazine had lost a lot of weight, dropping from a size 48 to 38 by late last year.

Simelane will be buried on Saturday in Meadowlands Zone 4, Soweto.
