Adele not allowed on Twitter due to drunk tweeting

London - Adele's management banned her from using Twitter because she kept tweeting while drunk.

The 27-year-old singer has confessed she lost control of her social media accounts at the beginning of her career because she used to "put her foot in it" by scrawling inappropriate messages on the site while inebriated.

During a segment called "rumour has it" during the taping of TV special Adele at the BBC, she was asked about the claims and admitted: "This is true.

"I'm not a drinker any more but when Twitter first came out I was drunk tweeting and nearly put my foot in it quite a few times.

"So my management decided they needed to go through two people and then it all has to be signed off by someone."

However, the Hello hitmaker insists she does still write her online messages, even though they do have to undergo a lot of editing.

She added: "They're all my tweets, no one writes my tweets, they just write them out for me. So yeah, that's very, very true."

Earlier this week she opened up about cutting down on alcohol, revealing she did so because "hangovers are torture" when she has to look after her three-year-old son Angelo.

She said: "I used to be able to drink anyone under the table and still be able to put on an all-right show.

"But with kids, hangovers are torture. They just know. They pick up on it and just go for you."
