Beyoncé has come under fire for drinking a glass of wine while she allegedly is still breastfeeding her newly born twins, Sir Carter and Rumi.
As soon as the Single Ladies singer posted a photo on Instagram of her sipping on a glass of vino – while out on a sushi date with her husband Jay-Z – people went absolutely bonkers, to put it lightly.
While her Beyhive fans leapt to her defence, some mommy-shamers had a problem with the Formation singer having a glass of wine.
"Didn't know breastfeeding and wine go well together,” one woman wrote.
"Alcohol is authorised when breastfeeding?” another Instagram user commented.
But is Queen Bey actually in the wrong?
According to the UK’s NHS Choices, breastfeeding moms can enjoy a tipple or two - but no more than one or two units of alcohol once or twice a week.
While drinking may inhibit milk production, research suggests that “drinking even one alcoholic beverage can reduce milk volume by 23 percent, and drinking two or more alcoholic beverages may inhibit let-down,” Dr Amy Schutt an assistant professor of obstetrics and gynaecology at Baylor College of Medicine told SELF.
So it looks like Queen B might not doing anything wrong after all. After recently giving birth to twins she might just need to some time to unwind and relax.
