Ed Sheeran rushed to hospital after Princess Beatrice cuts him while trying to knight James Blunt

Cape Town – Ed Sheeran’s face was injured in a royal prank gone wrong.

The singer – who has been taking time off from the limelight – was reportedly rushed to hospital to get stitches for a cut on his face after Princess Beatrice cut him while trying to knight James Blunt.

According to The Sun a source said the British royal hosted a dinner with guests including Ed, his girlfriend Cherry Seaborn, James Blunt and his wife Sofia Wellesley.

In conversation James reportedly joked that he would love to be knighted, and Beatrice playing along fetching a ceremonial sword to do the deed.

Unfortunately the light-hearted joke didn’t go according to plan. Instead of tapping the sword on James’ shoulders Beatrice swung it over her head and injured Ed, who was standing behind her.

Following the incident Ed was taken to hospital to have the cut stitched closed.
