Gina Rodriguez is the fairy godmother we've all dreamed of having!

Los Angeles - Gina Rodriguez loaned her Golden Globes dress to a fan.

Jessica Casanova, 17, from Buffalo, New York was offered the dress by the Jane The Virgin star after she tweeted how much she liked the gown and wanted to wear it for prom.

She said: "It feels really good. It fits like a glove! I tweeted to her after watching the Golden Globes and I said to her, 'I so wish I could wear your Golden Globes dress to prom.'

"I would say maybe in an hour or an hour and a half she replied and said, 'Maybe we can make this happen.' From there it started to roll. If Gina's watching this, I love you and I can't wait to hug you.'

The stunning strapless black Badgley Mischka gown was worn by Gina to the annual awards ceremony in 2015 where she picked up the gong for Best Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical.

Jessica hopes whoever gets the dress next will take good care of it too.

She told Entertainment Tonight: "l have no words, no other celebrity can compare to what she has done. She deserves everything in this entire world.

"I hope whoever gets it next, it goes in the right hands, because it's something close to her heart and it means a lot to her. I just hope it gets taken care of really well like the way I am."

And there was just one more surprise for the lucky fan - a video message from Gina herself.

She said: "Just know I love you. I'm so proud of you. I'm so excited for you. You look beautiful and everybody will remember it - especially you!"
