Gordon Ramsay's wife Tana suffers a miscarriage

Los Angeles - Gordon Ramsay's wife has miscarried their fifth child.

The 49-year-old TV chef and his spouse Tana are both devastated after tragically losing their unborn baby - believed to be a boy - five months into their pregnancy over the weekend.

Taking to his Facebook account on Monday, Gordon wrote: "Hi guys, Tana and I want to thank you so much for your support over the past couple of weeks.

"We had a devastating weekend as Tana has sadly miscarried our son at five months. We're together healing as a family, but we want to thank everyone again for all your amazing support and well wishes."

Gordon then went on to praise the staff at London's Portland Hospital for their assistance and care throughout the heartbreaking ordeal.

He added in the personal statement: "I'd especially like to send a big thank you to the amazing team at Portland Hospital for everything they've done. Gx (sic)"

Culinary genius Gordon announced he and Tana, 41, were expecting their fifth child during an appearance on The Late Late Show last month.

The couple already have Megan, 17, 16-year-old twins Holly and Jack and Matilda, 14, together.

Tana and Gordon married in 1996 and will be celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary this year - as well as Gordon's 50th birthday - and have discussed renewing their wedding vows.
