Cape Town - The rumours were true!

Prince Harry and his American sweetheart Meghan Markle are headed down the aisle. Clarence House has confirmed the former playboy prince will wed the US actress, BBC reports.

Not much other info about the impending nuptials has been released – but here’s what we know so far:

Harry popped the question last month

Contrary to popular belief, Harry (31) didn’t get down on bended knee on the couple’s recent trip to Africa. He actually proposed to Meghan (36) in London last month, Kensington Palace revealed.

Both families gave their blessing

Of course, the Queen had to give her grandson permission to wed the LA-born beauty – but Meghan’s parents had their say too! In a statement, Prince Harry said he was "delighted to announce" the engagement and had received the blessing of Ms Markle's parents, according to BBC.

Kensington Palace said in a statement: “Ms Markle's parents, Mr Thomas Markle and Doria Ragland have wished the couple 'a lifetime of happiness’.”

The wedding will be in spring 2018

The palace has yet to reveal more on the date, but said “further details will be announced in due course.” With the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s latest addition expected in April next year, it seems likely that the wedding will take place sometime after.

She’ll likely be given the title of duchess

Like Prince William, the Queen will reportedly grant Harry a dukedom when he ties the knot. According to MailOnline, the one Her Majesty has in mind is the dukedom of Sussex – which would make Meghan the Duchess of Sussex.

The couple will live in Nottingham Cottage

Meghan has already left her apartment in Toronto, Canada where she was shooting US legal drama, Suits, and will relocate to the British capital. According to the palace, the pair will live at Harry’s current home, Nottingham Cottage at Kensington Palace.

William and Kate approve!

“We are very excited for Harry and Meghan,” Harry’s big brother and sister-in-law Kate said in a joint statement. “It has been wonderful getting to know Meghan and to see how happy she and Harry are together.”
